Ballunar Liftoff Festival

we took the kids to the ballunar liftoff festival at johnson space center this weekend. it was our first year to go, and it was better than i expected. there were a lot of cool activities, but we went specifically to see the special shapes balloon glow saturday night. while we were waiting for the schepps dairy balloon to blow up we listened to a good band. emily and ethan love to dance so they had fun listening to the band. we did not have to wait very long before the schepps dairy balloon started to blow up. i first thought emily and ethan would be a little freaked out about seeing this huge cow coming up from the ground, but they liked it. dan took them pretty close. emily thought at one point she was going to get licked.

despite having a good nap saturday, emily was grumpy the whole time we were there. this was her best picture.

no matter though, i just moved on to kids who were smiling and having a good time!

elliot had a good time in the soft carrier. it was his first time facing forward. he's a little too short, but i don't think he minded. i think he liked being out of the carseat. he never fussed - he just looked around and smiled. i think he was proud of himself!

i think we'll go back next year. they had a good time watching the balloons fly in the air and glow on the ground. it's super fun to watch your children discover new things. it was a good night.

What's been going on

it's been a while since i've posted, and i don't want to disappoint my faithful lurkers - namely my friend ash, who checks in often, so here's an update:

weekend before last dan's roommate from tech came for a visit with us and the houston astros. bf is a baseball fan, and we are bf fans, so his visits are always fun. our kids simply adore him. they jump on him constantly, show him all their tricks and basically make him give them his undivided attention the whole time he's here. bf is a good sport, so it's okay. he's really good with kids. he even knows to make sippy cups with 50/50 juice and water. a very important mixture... so anyway, bf and dan went to an astros game saturday night, and dan and bf took the kids to a game sunday. it was quite the experience i was told. the kids ran the bases in the kids area and generally had a good time. emily took lots of random pictures, and ethan ate lots of popcorn off the concrete. i'm super glad i was not there to see that. from what they tell me, they could not get him to stop. this is a pic of ethan with bf at the game.

dan's "game day experience" he sold on eBay for 40 bucks. he sold the two giveaways they had at the stadium that day, along with his ticket stubs and some other stuff.

dan and i finally got a chance to take some pictures of elliot so bufkin can make us some announcements. i don't feel too bad we took so long to get an announcement out, because poor emily and ethan never had announcements!! hopefully one day elliot will take pride in the fact he had a birth announcement & the older two did not have any. maybe that will make him feel better when he looks at his scrapbook and realizes we took a lot more pics emily & ethan than we've taken of him!!
