Happy Birthday, Princess Emily

emily had a great day. at 7 am sharp she came downstairs wearing her tiara and carrying her scepter asking if it was time for her party. she was ready. for months she asked about her party, and planned it many times. the guests made their own tiaras, the house was full of girly girls.

a few weeks ago we asked her what she wanted to do for her party and she informed us she wanted a princess party. her theme choice surprised us a little, since she'd never watched any of the disney "princess" movies. i guess girls at school and church talk the princess talk. she and i went to michael's one day and she picked out her party things. i tried to get her to change her mind, i would rather have ANYTHING other than things character related. i'm just not into character things; that includes clothing, shoes, etc. i'm such a kill joy! :) but she insisted on having a princess party, so we found some things that did not have the disney princess stuff on it. i wanted to make her cake, so she picked out a castle cake pan. i thought, hey, no big deal, right?? i'll just make the cake. wrong. it was a big deal, and the cake looked horrible!! it took more than 2 hours to put the icing on. i was so tired at the end it just got stupid! at one point i could not stop laughing because it was so bad. dan and david tried to fix it a little, but it was no use. emily loved it though, and that's all that really matters i guess! i'll gladly pay the 40 bucks for a cake from the cake lady next year.

by the way, she got a TON of disney princess stuff. i guess when people think princess, they think disney. oh well. i tried to avoid it. i'll fight it to the end though! :) my mom brought that blow-up princess castle thing. i did not win this battle, but i'll win the war!! :)

What a fun party! The only thing my girls have that is character related is nightgowns..it is hard to find plain ones! What a great cake! I'm impressed.

Emily would of loved princess camp!

What a fun party... the looks wonderful. A cake made with love (and laughter) trumps the store cake any day! And I agree with you on "Characters." They've always bugged me, but I find myself giving in all the time because Dylan has a complete fascination with Thomas the Tank Engine. Oh well...

Oh, please, every little girl deserves to be a princess - especially one so cute!!!! I know she had a terrific day that she will remember forever - Becky still talks about her Strawberry Shortcake birthday party - instead of cake we made strawberry shortcakes!! I know I am old but what is the deal with characters?? I don't like the apparel though - cheesy!! love ya!
